On Feb. 10, Senior Sweethearts took over the west gym. For ten dollars, students and faculty could ‘rent’ a senior of their choice. The rented senior would then provide the underclassman with lunch and desserts donated by the senior class. The senior class planning board, Marielle Reiss, Juliette Reiss, Carly Farkas and Lauren Spiel, planned this event with the help of their adviser, science teacher Mr. Andrew Tuomey.
Ranging from cookies to pasta, all of the food was donated or cooked by different seniors and served to students and faculty throughout each period. Senior Samantha Forrester attended this year’s Senior Sweethearts and brought a pasta dish. She said, “I like the fact that we are able to come together as a grade and all have fun with the underclassmen while eating great food.”
Moreover, according to senior Alyssa Kaufman, Senior Sweethearts is a special event because “there aren’t a lot of school activities during the school day where all the seniors come together.” She said, “The best thing about senior sweethearts was everyone working together and getting involved.”
Senior Sweethearts helps to raise money for the senior class each year. However, this tradition is something not only seniors but all students look forward. “It’s a fun way to bring all the seniors together and do something nice for the underclassmen and faculty,” said Forrester.
