From Feb. 3 to Feb. 6, Theater South presented its annual winter play “Rumors,” a farce centered around a group of dinner party guests trying to cover up the attempted suicide of Charlie Brock, the Deputy Mayor of New York. Driven more so by one-liners than a plot, a farce is a comedic work characterized by slapstick humor and ludicrous situations. Fast-paced, absurd, and dramatic, “Rumors” elicited laughs, chuckles, and maybe even tears.
