Sophomore Cece Schnall started skating when she was three. Her mother originally wanted her to figure skate, but she revered her brother—who played hockey—and wanted to follow in his footsteps, insisting on wearing only hockey skates. Since then, she has loved hockey. Her team’s training consists of running followed by working with weights, jumping rope, running, and practicing agility. On the ice, her team does drills and then scrimmages. This tough regime is worth it because of her friends on the team. She said, “From bonding on the ice to in the locker room, it’s always fun to play your favorite sport with your closest friends.” Because she participates in other sports—basketball, field hockey, tennis, softball, skiing, and surfing—she has to balance her schedule. She said, “Though it’s very challenging, it’s worth it in the end because I love the sports I play.”
