There is no movie season as big as the summer. With a mix of blockbusters and independent movies, there’s a movie for everyone. In between visiting the beach and sipping lemonade, I suggest munching on some popcorn and watching one of my seven most anticipated movies of this summer!
7. Fast And Furious Presents: Hobbs And Shaw
A new installment in the worldwide-beloved action franchise, Fast And Furious Presents: Hobbs And Shaw, smashes into theaters this summer. The film centers on characters Luke Hobbs (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham). Luke and Deckard are two agents that disagree with each other’s methods who must work together in order to defeat the genetically-advanced Braxton Lore (Idris Elba). The Rock brings charisma and amusement with every movie he leads, and I doubt this will be an exception. Fast And Furious Presents: Hobbs And Shaw is anticipated to be a popcorn blockbuster to take your mind off of the stresses of day-to-day life.

6. Toy Story 4
Nine years after the extraordinary Toy Story 3 released into theaters, a new story in the Toy Story series is coming to cinemas. The movie consists of Woody (Tom Hanks), Forky (Tony Hale), a new character, and the rest of the Toy Story ensemble going on a road trip. A grand journey ensues, causing Woody to think about what he really wants and weigh the big questions of a toy. Pixar is a storytelling powerhouse; they have crafted some of the best animated movies of all time. Toy Story 4 will likely continue this tradition and be a good time for both adults and kids.

5. The Lion King
Following live-action remakes of Disney animated classics like Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Beauty and the Beast, a new version of my favorite animated film of all time, The Lion King, is roaring its way into the silver screen. The Lion King looks to impress with improved motion capture technology and a stellar voice cast consisting of Donald Glover, Beyoncé, Seth Rogen, John Oliver, and more. The Lion King appears to be a great retelling of a great animated classic.

4. Yesterday
From the mastermind comedy writer behind Love, Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral, a new fun romantic comedy, Yesterday, is singing its way to theaters. After an accident, a musician (Himesh Patel) realizes that he’s the only person to remember any of The Beatles’ songs. Soon after, the musician starts to reap the benefits of The Beatles’ discography and takes credit for their songs. An intriguing concept, Yesterday seems to be a heartwarming comedy for all those rom-com lovers out there.

3. Spider-Man: Far From Home
After the massive events of Avengers: Endgame, a new tale following your favorite web slinger is swinging its way into cinemas. This time, Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) goes on a school trip to Europe but is recruited by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to tackle a new set of mysterious villains. Spider-Man: Far From Home is sure to be a worthy addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

2. Midsommar
From the twisted mind of horror director, Ari Aster, a new haunting horror epic is releasing in, you guessed it, midsummer. A couple visits a friend’s hometown in Sweden and participates in the town’s festival that slowly begins to devolve into a sinister event. After creating the thrilling modern horror masterpiece with Hereditary, Aster looks to continue the nightmares with Midsommar.

1.Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
It has been four years since Quentin Tarantino’s last film, The Hateful Eight. The ninth of the director’s ten promised films, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood follows an actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double (Brad Pitt) through late 1960’s Hollywood. The film also stars Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate and will include a focus on the Manson murders. Tarantino has yet to disappoint with his history-based films and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood appears to be no exception.
