Athlete of the Week: Alexa Epstein

Girls Varsity Soccer

The Lady Rebels kicked off this year’s soccer season with an impressive victory over their cross-town rivals, Great Neck North. Offense was the theme of the day with seven goals scored, four off the big foot of senior Alexa Epstein. Epstein’s hustle and relentless pursuit of the ball not only inspired her teammates, but also placed her on top as the current leading scorer in Nassau County. The Lady Rebels compiled a record of 3 wins and 2 losses as of Sept. 23. Epstein has served as a scoring machine and a great team player, contributing to many of her teammates’ assists. With tough competition in the division, a team effort is essential in order to reach the playoffs. Although it is early in the season, there is every reason to believe that superlative play like that exhibited by Epstein in the first game will be a recurring theme.
